Lessons From Leaders in the Napa Valley #3

This week’s photo again takes us back to January 11 and The Business of Wine with Three Napa Valley Icons.  The third stop of the day was with our friends at Rombauer.

Leading a most engaging discussion (pictured from the left) were Heather McCarthy, Director of Marketing, Alison Surgeon, Director of Sales and Matthew Owings, COO & CFO.  Heather and Allison were part of Executive Wine MBA Cohort #4, graduating over five years ago in the summer of 2017.

The Rombauer team relayed the story of the addition of Sauvignon Blanc into their portfolio and how they have managed its growth, both on the supply side and out in the market.  Rombauer never yields on pricing power.  They guard their brand equity religiously and work diligently to communicate brand value to all members of the trade and their consumers.

The visit provided our current students with another candid conversation about the business of wine and how attention to sound business practices pays dividends over the long haul.  Success in this business is not an accident.
